Who Invented the Car and the Need For Car Insurance?
Who invented the car is a simple enough question, but the answer is much more complicated, since there was no "Eureka" moment, but a gradual evolution of automobile milestones.
Depending on how generous you apply the definition of automobile, which literally means 'moving', designs for such a vehicle may be so far back to the 15th Century, and drawings that will be pursued from a true visionary – Leonardo Da Vinci. However, if it comes with a working self-propelled> Car, then Nicolas-Joseph Cugnot can claim right to the title of original inventor. In 1769 he produced a fully operational military vehicle or tractor, specifically for the French army, which included a maximum speed of 2.5 mph and run by steam built.
But, the car, as we know it, which was powered by an internal combustion gasoline engine, tested successfully for the first time and road Freidrich patented by Karl Benz in Germany in 1886. The three-wheeled vehicle was from a catapultFour-stroke internal combustion engine and the same year another famous name with motoring and fellow German, Wilhelm Gottlieb Daimler are connected, along with his partner Wilhelm Maybach also produced an automobile but complete with the world's first four-stroke engine. The first Briton to build a car to a plumber and gas fitter by the name of Fred Bremer, began in 1892 at the tender age of 20 years with the construction of its four wheels, was gasoline-powered car, which he firstwent on the road two years later.
But it was brothers Frank and Charles Duryea, who was the first American automobile manufacturer in 1893, and in fact also available in the USA that mass production became the standard for motor vehicle manufacturing was. In 1901 Ransome Eli Olds introduced the basic assembly line in Detroit and became the largest producer of cars. By 1913, however, Henry Ford had an assembly plant in Highland Park, Michigan, developed, including a conveyor belt, thedrastically reduces production time, a T-model has 93 minutes to build from beginning to end, and as a result of his company to the world's largest suppliers. In 1927, more than 15 million Model T had in fact built the plant.
After Ford had assembly techniques in the world, the car will soon be running the most popular method of transport. During the late 20th Century was generally affordable cars and the most convenient way to travel. But his popularity also led toto protect a necessary introduction of various laws to both drivers and pedestrians, and help the inevitable introduction of taxes to swell the chancellor's coffers. Great British car clubs legislation milestones include:
The license was required in January 1904
Gasoline is taxed first at 3d per gallon, in 1908
Tax discs become compulsory under the Roads and Finance Act 1920
First automatic traffic lights turned on in Wolverhampton in 1928
Auto insurance for all legally requiredDrivers under the Road Traffic Act 1930
Driving tests are mandatory in June 1935
There is no doubt that the concept of the automotive industry has changed dramatically from just starting out, but there are no signs of stopping with manufacturers plowing millions of pounds per year in research into new models, the methods of fuel and the safety of passengers, all far from it's dream early on a piece of paper!
