10 European Cities You Can Easily Visit From Liverpool Airport

December 8th, 2009 No comments

If you’re looking for a weekend away, and exciting venue for a stag or hen weekend, or a longer holiday, then maybe you already have somewhere in mind. If you haven’t decided where you want to go, then here are 10 cities for you to consider.

1. Dublin is one of the oldest cities in Europe and has a lot of cultural and historical sights that are well worth visiting. In addition, Dublin is well known for it’s lively atmosphere, and there is certainly plenty to see and do here, from the shopping and the legendary pubs, to the Guinness Factory and the Kilmainham Jail.

2. Bourgas in Bulgaria is not really a tourist destination, but a gateway to the whole of Bulgaria, and ideal if you want to visit some of the more popular areas. Why not consider going skiing in the winter, or taking advantage of the excellent weather and beaches during the summer?

3. Larnaca in Cyprus is the 2nd busiest port in Cyprus, and has a history that goes back over 4000 years. With year round sunshine and fantastic beaches, whatever time of year you decide to visit, you won’t be disappointed.

4. Paphos is a USESCO World Heritage site and is home to a whole host of archaeological finds, as well as churches and monasteries. With the hot summers and the mild winters that Cyprus is well known for, it’s not surprising that it’s a popular destination all year round.

5. Bordeaux is another UNESCO World Heritage Site and has over 350 listed building and monuments. With a wine making tradition that started in the 8th century, as well as mansions, gothic architecture and impressive shopping facilities, Bordeaux really does offer something for everyone.

6. Paris needs no introduction, and whether you want to appreciate the culture of the architecture, museums and galleries, the food, or the shopping, you’ll find lots of things to see and do.

7. Strasbourg was founded in 12BC by the Romans, and is today another UNESCO World Heritage Site. Strasbourg is the European Capital, home of the Council of Europe, the Human Rights Building, the European Parliament, the European Science Foundation, the Assembly of European Regions and the European Regional Development Centre. As well as the commercial side, Strasbourg also has a lot of French and German influences and offers museums, and great food, and is well worth visiting.

8. Alicante is a very popular destination for visitors to Spain, and there are a lot of ex-pats who have made the area their home. With beaches, many historical remains and the unmissable harbour, and excellent nightlife and things to do, if you’ve never been to Spain before, why not consider Alicante?

9. Barcelona is world famous for its football team and the Nou Camp Stadium, but there are other reasons you should visit this city, such as the shopping and the museums, galleries and, of course, Goudi’s architecture. Why not see if you can make time to play some of the golf courses that Spain is so famous for?

10. Palma de Majorca has a history that goes back to the Bronze Age, and has been a tourist destination since the 1950s. Almost half the residents of Majorca live in Palma, and as well as the nightlife, Palma is also well renowned for its culture such as the theatre, ballet and exhibitions.

Now you know more about where you can easily get to from Liverpool Airport, perhaps now is the time to book a weekend away or a holiday in the sun.
