What is the Scrappage Scheme?

November 1st, 2009 No comments

The system allows the owners of cars that are 10 or more years old, the car will receive over the hand for the scrapping of a significant discount to a completely new model. This discount of at least £ 2000 will be picked up between the automotive manufacturers and government.

This is designed to reduce the number of cars on the street, the high emissions are mostly associated with older vehicles in combination and give a "shot in the arm" for new car sales in Britain who have sufferedthe recent financial crisis.

Many would argue that the effects promoted the abolition of a semi-decent car, and the building of a new brand of environmental benefits from the scheme prevails.

The scheme is expected to run until October, but has called for extending the automobile clubs industry as it is in Germany, which has seen a large increase in new car sales to a similar strategy. The scheme was associated with an increase in the "mini car" sales. The Ford Fiesta, Corsa Vauxall, Mini and VW Golf were all top-selling cars in June.

Foreign models such as Hyundai and Kia have also seen increased sales due to the scheme – mainly by higher discounts offered by the brand to be scrapped, but also because the current trend of cheaper cigarettes from retailers.

It remains to be seen whether the regulations will result, has led to increased sales in other markets such as roadside assistance or cheap car insurance, or whether theseMarkets offer similar incentives for users of the scrapping discount.
