What Ever Happened to the Lazy Sunday Drive?

November 8th, 2009 No comments

Times were that every Sunday afternoon, displacing families in the family car (note the singular) and go for a leisurely drive through the city. Formerly it was an event being looked forward a little. It was not to be despised and coaxed out. Rattled That's because cars still a novelty, and it was lucky in a way, even if you wanted a quieter 30 km / h and will to death by shock was non-existent. One of them held all his contemptuous for those whodo not have cars and are therefore not in a position to enjoy the thrill of the ride Sunday afternoon. The poor peasants, who on Sunday had to walk! It was the time the family spends the drives connected.

Let us imagine that bring just to the decline of this quaint little ritual. Cars have a little bit cheaper and a bit more commonplace. More families had started a car and many families even with two cars. Driving was not such a rarity. ButGasoline is still relatively expensive and in some places there were restrictions on fuel, then went still remained limited, and some novelty value. In addition to the Sunday drive and managed to a certain sentimental value for many families to keep that tradition and continue to welcome, among many, but it was the beginning of the end.

And then even better and more cars will be cheaper. Most of the houses, two car families. Teenagers even started buying them. Used CarsSales went through the ceiling. Only the poorest of the poor have no cars, and they were probably with savings of up to one. Every second person had a driver's license. Driving was as common as walking, more so now because it would lead people rather than on foot. What was the point of going to the Sunday drive, if you drive for a Monday, a Sunday drive, a Sunday drive, a Sunday drive, a Sunday drive or a disk drive could go Saturday? If you could go in the morning or afternoon? If you couldinstead of trying to go alone in a car with three or four other people squeeze? A car means freedom. Freedom from everything connected including the obsolete rituals that your family, the place you were and not get anyway.

In these days can be more even fewer households with average incomes of up to three cars each. Many parents think that it is perfectly normal, their children buy a car for her eighteenth or einsundzwanzigtes birthdays. Many parents help their children finance their first car. And yet it is only the poorest of the poor who do not have cars and still they are likely to save like crazy for one. Ask any little boy what he wants and it is probably a car. My first toy cars are usually out for God's sake, and they never grow out of them.

The automotive industry is one of the largest and most powerful industries in the world. Try and think of any industry and more important. The arms industry. Medicinemaybe. The total budget for Ferrari Formula 1 season in any given year is probably more than the budget for education, choose a country, the United Kingdom, for the same year. That is only one team. There are twelve of them. And this is just a motor sport.

The industry is getting bigger and more powerful each year. Every year we have read in the newspaper as it was this year a record number of car sales. And cars are not always cheaper. They are increasinglyluxurious and they come with more features, but the prices, they are not down. More and more people spend their hard earned money for their dream vehicles or to be occurring, as in most cases, they are endangering their dreams and so many of their dreams than they can afford it, or that can run safely 2, 5 children and a great family dog.

Car rental is also a thriving business. You can rent everything from small economy cars, which only the bare bonesthem to large and spacious luxury vehicles, with every mod con that you may not be desired. You can get something fast and sporty, or you can get something big and can carry up to 16 passengers at a time. Most rental places can be found at airports, because it makes very much sense for them to be based. People fly with no other means of transport, also rent a car for the duration of their stay and return the car on the road again. Many cities have rentOffices located in its center, so its not just airports that offer this service. Rental companies that have branches nationwide can often sell you a branch of the rent and the vehicle to another. This provides additional comfort.

So, what killed the Sunday go? The abundance of cars and the death of novelty. Too many people drive far too often now, especially for commuting to work. Some people spend up to three hours a day in their cars to drive only to and fromWork. Now Sundays are good days to be car free.
